Tomas Kaan (Mkwajuni, 1979) has a fascination for people and places that are subject to radical change. For documentaries en television-series he travelled to former Yugoslavia, the Caucasus, Africa, the Middle East and the North Pole.
Tomas builds his films around a strong emotion or a specific atmosphere using a distinct visual style. He has a preference for timeless, nostalgic stories, absurd humour and Rock & Roll.

Together with screenwriter Ruben Picavet I wrote the scenario for this short film. Originally the story is written by one of my favourite Dutch writers, F. Springer. The film is about a couple of teenagers in the 1950’s who spend a hot midsummer day on a rooftop. A tragic incident will end the carefree days of their childhood.
