Dream City - Iraq

This documentary-series portrays several visitors of the theme park Dream City, who talk about their life in Iraq. Stories about fear, the role of ethnicity and religion, hate and violence, but also stories about the future, dreams, courage and hope. This series of portraits paints a probing, almost surreal picture of a country and a population that is completely torn apart. Majid – a tourist from the violent city of Mosul: ‘It is our fate as Iraqis, to live in misery. I can’t remember ever really laughing. I envy those people who can really laugh.’ (For all episodes click here)

“Dream City – Iraq” was shown on the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2008 and on the Middle East Now Festival in Florence 2011.
